Hey there!
I’m Chaney, and I’m the founder of Mix & Match Design Company, an online interior design business, and I’m so glad you’re here! Wherever you are in your journey - from dreaming up a business to growing it to learning a new skill - I hope I can help you with it! I’m passionate about e-design and entrepreneurship, and truly want to see you succeed.
If you’re new around here, I bet you’re wondering who I am and why I decided to start an Education side of my business, so I figured I’d take a minute to introduce myself and tell you a little bit of my backstory!
Back in 2017, a few years after Mix & Match Design Company went live and I had started to make a name for myself, I started receiving tons of DMs and emails from folks asking me how I got going with my e-design company and if we could chat about it. They were excited about starting a business themselves, but felt like they had no idea how to do it. Out of that, I realized that while I could have a lot of individual conversations and offer advice (and I did a lot of that early on!) there was a huge need for solid and practical information on how to launch an e-design business.
At that time, it was kind of the wild west out there and there weren't any known paths to success. I had learned a TON along the way while starting my company and really wanted to figure out a way to share that knowledge so I could enable aspiring e-designers to get their businesses up and running. Thus, my first course, How To Launch An E-Design Business was born.
I put everything I knew into a jam-packed, self-paced online course that has now helped more than 100 e-designers get off on the right foot without having to endure many of the struggles I faced when I fumbled my way through the first year of business. It's been such a wonderful way to pass on what I've learned to a new group of creative entrepreneurs.
After How To Launch An E-Design Business had been around for awhile, I started getting requests from designers who already had a traditional, in-person design business to create a course that could help them just focus on starting an e-design arm. Well, request granted! Enter: Processes, Tools, and Workflows - it’s a targeted course that goes through the nuts and bolts of running an e-design project from start to finish without the business startup part. (On a side note, I get asked a lot if the material from Processes, Tools, and Workflows is included in the comprehensive course, and the answer is yes! I simply pulled that part out to create a targeted, lower priced course.)
And finally, since one of the biggest questions I get from my students and other e-designers is about how in the world they can get photos of their work, last year I launched my first skill-development course called How To Shoot Interiors. It’s a comprehensive, “get-started-in-a-weekend” course on learning how to take photos of your projects with a DSLR camera. While having that skill isn’t essential to your success as an e-designer, it sure is nice to be able to snap professional-looking, Instagram-worthy pictures for your portfolio, social media, and website whenever you want! Having content to share is a big part of growing a business, and if you can truly be a one-stop shop in creating it yourself, it can be incredibly helpful for your business’s growth.
I’ve been shooting interiors for a long time now, and I absolutely loved putting this course together. I shoot all of my projects (and my own home as well) - it’s one of my favorite things to do! This course is also perfect if you’re a realtor wanting to learn how to take photos for your listings, a blogger/Instagrammer who wants to graduate from their iPhone camera, or are someone who simply wants to learn this skill for fun.
So welcome! I hope that helps you get to know me a little bit and take a peek behind the curtain of Education by Mix & Match Design Company. If you have any questions or just want to chat, you can always send me an email or DM me on Instagram. Once a month, I also send out an in-depth newsletter that covera one particular topic related to the e-design world, so if you’d like to sign up for that, scroll down to the bottom of this page!
No matter where you are - whether you're dreaming up your future business, are getting ready to launch, or are ready to take this thing to the next level, rest assured you're not alone. Being an entrepreneur is one of the most exciting and scariest adventures, but I'm happy to help! I’ll be right there with you.
