Self-Audit: Is Your Website Serving Your E-Design Business Well?
Websites are often the first impression our clients get of our businesses, so it's worth taking the time to make it a good one! Have you taken a hard look at yours lately? Whether you've had a site for years or are in the process of building your first one now, think about what it says about your business - does it give a clear message about what you do and how?
I recently took some time to go through and update my e-design website, so I've had this topic on my mind lately. I restructured pages, simplified some areas, and updated images and graphics to better reflect what I want my brand to be about.
As I did this, I asked myself some questions to make sure my website was doing all that I hoped it would. You can do this little “self audit” too!
E-Design Website “Self-Audit” Questions:
Can a visitor understand what your business does with a quick glance at your homepage?
Is it easy to navigate and find what you need?
Does your design services page clearly and concisely outline what you offer?
Is there an easy way for potential clients to contact you?
Do the images you have in your portfolio and in other spots on your site represent your brand and styles you want to design?
If you have an hour or two this week, I'd challenge you to ask yourself those questions about your site. Or better yet, have a trusted friend take a look and see what they have to say about it! It's always helpful to have a second set of eyes.
Think about it from the perspective of a potential client - if they landed on your website today, would it be easy for them to say "YES" to contacting and hiring you?
